Are there any dissent boat rod for a $100?

Nothing fancy, for occasional use, maybe 10 x a year.

Stripers and blues, with occasional jigging, up to 3oz bucktail.

All fishing will be done in the LI Sound, if that matters.

Thanks

for casting up to 1 oz i like medium light, you can jig with that 3 oz,if i catch 10# fish that is 160 oz and the rod have no problem with that.

We have been catching big blues, yesterday my friend had one probably above 36"

Lots of stripers above that mark, too, with couple of them above 40" mark.

Casting 2oz and 3oz

My friend has his own tackle and let me use it. He got all $$$$ stuff, I fished with VS yesterday.

Would like to get me a something on my own so I do not have to worry about his stuff.

Yesterday, I was going to tape Lami and VS for my arm, so it doesn't fall from my hand.

Instead of me wearing west, I was thinking to put a west on VS, lol.

I am very careful and cautioned with his gears but me being me, I am afraid that something may happen.

you can pick same rod with defrent rating, what can cast 2 or 3 oz, it would be medium or medium heavy.

go on st.croix web and look at the rating you wil find what you need, you do not have to buy that ,that is your example what you need.

i use 1 oz casting up to 50' dept,3 oz get there faster but the 1 oz give more time the fish to bite it fluter more.

Ugly stick tiger spinning. Bought a couple like 20 years ago. Rated 1-6oz. Probably over kill but an absolute beast of a rod. Used it for ocean fluking and jigging for blues and stripers. Don’t know what it cost now but might be worth a look.

i woud go with 1/2 to 1 1/2

Thanks, but I am afraid I may need more than 1.5 oz.

Most of the boat lures are in 2 and + oz range, so I was thinking of something 1-4 oz range.

Was looking at that one today, at local Dicks but they had only casting, not spinning one.

Rods get bounced on boats, off the truck with two rods and a tackle box/ bag means your holding two rods with one hand and they get nicked, scratched, handle gets marred in rod holders … I have ugly sticks that are twenty years old that I’ve won pools on and the still work fine … I’ve bent spindle shafts on a spinning reels I used on boats … when I’m on a boat I usually use a conventional and have a beat up spinning rig as back up …boats can be viscous on tackle

Have a look at the Abu spin jig rods in the Veritas 4. Really loving the 621J for the price. Loads up awesome on larger stuff too and in my hands, outcasts folks with 7'ers and longer. Amazing rod for the money. Matches well with a 2500-4500 Penn. I run the 4500 slammer 3 with PE3 and my daughter's rod has 2500 spinfisher 5 with PE2. Its only 6'2" but outcasts longer rods with the way it can transfer the power from the whole blank into the tip for a cast

Cant say enough good things about this rod

They have spinning ones and they are very effective for the price.

I know

i am looking on line as we speak to see what store has one.

I also, found, Okuma Stratus, 7' on sale for $35, rated 3/4 to 3 oz.

If I do find anything in 1 - 4 oz range, less than 100, I'll buy it.

I have a $75  gift card that I have to use for something.

Do a search for something like a Shimano Teramar 7' on FB Marketplace. The NE models are terrific rods. Maybe you'll find a lightly used one near you for something like $100-130 if you get lucky.
