BentHookzMA
I want to start off by saying I’ve never fished the Sebile magic swimmer and would love some guidance from you folks. I was recently on a big blitz with fish hitting 5-9” herring in the mouth of the river I fish. I want to use the Sebile next time and need this lure in my arsenal. With that said what is the screw on used for? What kind of rubber do folks use for it? I assume it’s to make the profile bigger and add action? Many thanks in advance! angler management
small grub curly tail but many use a barrel swivel on the front hook remove the rear and add a willow leaf (canal rig) to keep the lure from breaking at the joints add flash and bigger profile for bigger fish Edited May 25 by angler management the takers get the honey and the givers sing the blues - Robin Trower
ged
Take that crap off the back. A big bass is going to rip off the last section of that plug. Use only the front hook hanger and a replace the hardware and hood with something better. Cast and retrieve. EliasA
Yeah I don’t bother with adding a plastic on the tail, it seems to dampen the action a bit. I remove the tail hook and screw and add a bucktail flag. If you hook a nice fish on the tail hook the back 2 sections will tear off. I primarily fish them in the canal so I canal rig them, but in quieter waters I would rig it with 2 split rigs instead. The stock hooks are trash, I replace them with heavier duty hooks

I imagine off the back hook hanger. I'll tell you this, no eternal reward will forgive us now for wasting the dawn. Jim Morrison Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun. R.R. Bridge Fisher
I would recommend leaving the magic swimmer at home and using big Danny's or pikies... If you're heart is set on using a magic swimmer, use a 228 not that one. Remove ALL factory hooks and rings, Put on 2 good hooks and rings, nothing on the tail.. mybosox3 and EliasA 2 troll #122 <*)))<
S Hook
228’s have 3x strong hooks which don’t look that bad, but I switched mine out to 4x VMC’s, 4/0.

EliasA
here are two possible rigging methods, on top is the classic canal rig with a treble hook. The bottom is a single hook variation of a canal rig, with 3 split rings instead of 2 rings and a swivel the top two plugs are my favorite lures when big herring are around, a large pikie on top and a jumbo danny below it. Nothing beats the backwater blowup of a nice fish in skinny water smoking a pikie or danny S Hook and plugchucker
