S Hook
Right now my primary gear is a 11 foot Tsunami Trophy II, Heavy 3-8oz rod, with a Penn Slammer IV 5500.(50lb Suffix braid). Casting 2-4oz lures from the surf. I have a real itch to get a VanStaal VSX2200 or 250 and put it on a better 11 foot rod. I really don't have any complaints about what I have now. I don't reel underwater, and am careful not to dunk my reel and try to prevent it getting splashed. I think my son would be happy with getting the set up I have now. No way the wife is finding out about the new stuff. lol Am I going to be getting anything great making this switch? If you think I should switch, I am pretty much set on the VanStaal, but what rod in 11 foot length? Edited May 25 by S Hook
PlumFishing
I had an ODM Genesis 1-6oz paired with a Saragossa 8k and it was a really nice combination. Wound up selling the rod as I wasn't using it very much. S Hook

If you want to fish with the best then go for it. I would say you should upgrade the rod over the reel. If the money is burning in your pocket and you want to fish with the best just do it. Rook45
@S Hook what kind of fishing do you do? Are you a chunker/ bait and wait or do you throw plugs all day?
hobobob
If you like it, why change. If you don't like it, what would you like to changed? Better rod / reels vs extra rod / reels. In conclusion, you can never have enough. Ditchbag, coldsurf and S Hook 2

Rizz1877
What's your budget? They're are allot of good rods out there depending on what you want to spend and what you are throwing.

I use a 11' Century s2 with my 200 and a 11' Century surf machine elite with my 250. Odm frontier x is also another that I like allot. Light rods with allot of sensitivity, back bone, that can cast a mile. S Hook
OnlyDinks
If your reels aren’t getting wet I would look into something besides a VS. VS’s are a great tool for the job they were designed for, but they are not exactly a “nice” reel. My Saragossa feels 1000 times “nicer” that any of my VS’s for nearly $600 less. As far as rods, century slingshot 1327 if you like fast action, century’s stealth s2 1326 if you like a more parabolic rod S Hook
Old Hunter
What you’re upgrading from, is what I upgraded to! If you have the cash do it, enjoy your hobby, (but selling a gun??). OH Edited May 26 by Old Hunter Punctuation S Hook
