Look into Jigging World rods.

Great rods for the money, light and durable.

I pair a Vr75 with several of their rods and have switched over to using almost all JW rods.

Take a look at the nexus or onyx inshore models they make 7’-7,3” and 7,6” if I’m not mistaken both would be a great option.

Been fishing the 8’ onyx surf for bucktailing the open beach for fluke and back bays and nexus models from boat both live bait and plugging.

Catch them up

A little advice....don't worry about the reel when choosing a rod.  The right rod has to do with what you'll be using it for - the reel isn't really a factor.

Try not to pay any attention to line ratings when selecting a rod - they're meaningless.  Manufacturers mainly put line rating on rods to cut down on warranty claims and they tell you nothing objective about the rod's properties.  Same with power ratings that are letters - L, M, MH, H, etc. - totally arbitrary and meaningless to compare between brands or even rods from different saeries from the same brand.   Instead, look at the lure ratings - 1-3oz, 3-6oz, etc.  Those will at least give you some idea of what the rod is suited to cast.  Keep in mind though, a rod's casting weight range isn't the same as what it can handle when jigging or fishing live bait.  For example, a rod with a 3/4 to 2oz lure rating probably feels about right with 3-4oz of weight when jigging or fishing bait.

I prefer peace. But if trouble must come, let it come in my time, so that my children can live in peace.

I pair my VSB50X2 as well as my similarly sized VR75 with a Jigging World Onyx surf 8 foot 2 piece rated 1/2 to 1 1/2.

I also use it on a 9' TFO GIS.
