shark lobster Posted May 21 Report Share Posted May 21 So in november i bought a fishaholic 9’ darkmattersurf rod cheap rod for lighter back bays and stuff ! So started using the rod late april early May 3 outings rod broke on hookset top 18” rod has 1 year warranty so i reached out to J&H they said rod is disconnected but you can upgrade to a 9’ Skinner rod for another 150$ ! So how is this a warrenty cover i dont like the specs on the Skinner rod no refund available on the rod so pretty much no warrenty . I own one and it’s OK but I try to stay away from them. I’d never pay full price for one. J and H will give you 15% off of you just ask nicely. Don’t take no for an answer from them - get a new rod . I agree with you on they should honor it. They are not always that nice there. They just want more money for a replacement that you don't even want. It's not the same rating as original rod. If they discontinued the rod that broke and it's still under warranty they should either refund you or give you an upgrade. You have a warranty so I would ask for my replacement and explain that you don’t want an upgrade. Moving forward I would do all my business with an more reputable shop. I was looking for a rod for a vsb 50 and there's 2 decisions I don't need to consider now. Thats a good idea i dont like bashing any business but you should honor what you sell not a upgrade with more money thats not a good warrenty ! saltyb92 Posted May 22 Report Share Posted May 22 I've had only good experiences with J&H, and specifically emailing back/forth with Josh. Ordered a Black Hole rod online, which had some minor damage to 1 guide. Josh shipped out a replacement immediately and gave me free return label for original rod.
