If stripers mean that much to you, then you can give up eating them for a year or 2........ z-man

Agreed. Most of the meat fishermen meatheads aren’t going to stumble into 40” fish except by dumb luck.
fishcrat
Couple of quick corrections, if I may: the minimum recreational striper coastal size has been 28 inches since the Plan was implemented. This size was determined to be the size where 50% of female striper have spawned and is a fundamental provision of the plan. Secondly, according to the report provided the Mass. Marine Fisheries Advisory Commission at their last meeting, the Massachusetts body that approves the Marine Fisheries regulations, although the Environmental Police are well below their optimum staffing level several new officers are being added to the field and a number of new recruits are being trained. Gwiz
If things are as bad as they say I would think more people would be worried about the future , but it seems guys are more upset about being inconvenienced over not keeping a fish. If this is where we are at we are already done. Too bad. z-man

There's precedent (see early 1980s). Gotcow? 1 Pfantum Pfishah

Very little institutional memory left of those times. Just the old faaaahrts like me. Didn't even bother targeting stripers back then. Bottom and bluefishing were far more practical. Yeah, I remember voluntarily giving up on the salt during those years. Started again in the 90's, but gave up again in the late 2010's. I've been fresh water kayak fishing since, but hate the fact that many MA waters' fish are not suitable for eating. There are some big fish to be had, but too many chemical infused waters to name... I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy!

As of today, it's still the old slot limit in mass. Pfantum Pfishah

I remember back then being heavy steel rigged to target bluefish and a striper would be a pleasant surprise.
