Okuma. 60 yds    65.   75      65yds
Lami    50yds.     55.   60      50yds

Measured on a lined, town park football field.   both used same length leader with a 2 ounce bank sinker.   Both have 20 lb fireline.     The wind was a 15mph crosswind with higher gusts.
Two casts each from north and south end of the field,  Wind always perpendicular to direction of cast.  First casts of the year, none since late November.
Wind took the Okuma line and sinker much further off course, nearly ten yards each time.  (Maybe unused to longer rod ?)
the Lami seemed to have a slight but audible  "twang"  after sinker was 30 yards out.  I will have to check again to see if there is a wind knot which of course would have impacted the cast.
the Nine foot Lami is rated for 5/8 to 2 oz.
the Eleven foot Okuma is 3/4 to 3 oz.

I wanted to cast lighter weights but way too windy today for that.

Some years ago my buddy and I had paced off a cast with a Kastmaster parallel to the surf line on the sand and believed we had come up with 60 to 65 yards that day.   I believe the wind was negligible, unlike today.

It may take you few days to adjust on longer rods, but with 11' Rockaway and 2oz sinker you will be doing easy 75 yards on every cast.

Bad day fishing is still much better than good day work.

Reminds me when a teenager I found my father's 5' BOAT rod and a Penn trolling reel loaded with 30lb mono.   Attached a four ounce sinker, went out in front of the driveway and proceeded to cast it past my mom's yard and the house next store, and then OVER the power line strung between two telephone poles on the opposite side of the intersection.   No bird's nest !   Back in those days you could play softball and touch in the street around here with only the occasional car interrupting us.   I only did this once as I was afraid a second cast could easily hit my 6th grade teacher's house on the opposite corner.

While I never had a hit yesterday (town's open ocean beach) and while I was the only person fishing during the two hours I was there, I was satisfied with the way the Okuma 11' M Rockaway handled a variety of lures, casting the 1 1/2oz buck with pork rind trailer the best, probably about the same 70-75 yards I had at the park last month.  Also chucked out a Mag Darter, a paddletail, a needlefish (came in second casting distance, lol) and a kastmaster (which was used when the SE wind came up a bit.)

That sound you heard could be an issue with the rod. I have the one piece GSB for that rating and it sounded like that just before it broke on a fish. First time out with it, still working with Lami's warranty department and it will look like I have to wait another month because they dont want to pay the freight on the one piece rod.

I have the vocabulary of a well-educated sailor.

Looked at a couple of his videos.  Good stuff.  Glad I came across your recommendation.
