I have a chance to shore fish Buzzards Bay for stripers early this week. Is there any point? Is it too early?

Unless you have spots holding holdovers you’re early

How soon do you think for the migration?

Generally the early fish hit the vineyard mid April, like round April 15th, and then the first push of fish hit buzzards bay and the cape around late april, like april 26- april 29th

this is going by my notes from last year, it tends to fluctuate a bit but generally it’s pretty consistent year to year.

Maybe mid April but more likely late April is probably the earliest you’ll find any reliable action, and it picks up quickly in may.

if you need to get a striper fix there are several areas on the cape that consistently hold holdovers, look for brackish estuaries, marshes and salt ponds. If you do a bit of research, there are other sites that show no regard to spot burning and will have some spots named you could try

Thanks for the info! Think I'll cool my heels and sell books for the time being.

Next to bow hunting the rut spring turkey is my favorite...schoolies or gobblers, no brainer for me !

Damn cold up here (northern NH) today. Fishing kayaks under 3 ft of snow & ice. Spring seems a long way off.
