Anyone who steals is a low life coward. No remorse, I hope whoever steals from another person in their life has whatever is coming their way!

Dealt with thievery of this sort myself and it sucks. When you’re raised to respect the property of others and then have to go through this sort of bs it really gets to you. More and more I see morals and values in society slipping away…sad.

Learned that the hard way once, never again. Had a VS250 and prototype Lami Super Surf I just finished wrapping boosted from the roof rack in my driveway !  Neighbors kid was having a party, 6 or 7 jeeps with surfboards parked next door, didn't think anything of it...some **** probably bought himself a nice new board !

Sad you can't trust anyone these days.

This is the truth, never let your guard down. Ever...

Lowlife scum. Take solace in the fact that you are not a miserable sack of crap that this guy apparently was. Thieves are always looking over their shoulder and distrust even those around them. Karma will get him for you.

Went kayak fishing yesterday in Mississippi (I live in Louisiana) and got home late and tired. Left my rods and kayak in the back of my truck and they were still there this morning. Went to pick up my girlfriend and we spent a few hours watching a movie and watching March madness on TV.

She’s cooking dinner and realizes she forgot a few things, so I run to the grocery store down the street only to realize when I get there my rods were stolen clean out of my truck bed. I live in a gated apartment community so I think someone here had to do it.

The rods/reels weren’t terribly expensive but really damn angry nonetheless. Angry that people would have the nerve to steal my stuff right outside my door when I’m just trying to hang out and have a relaxing night.

Thought I would share to remind everyone to ALWAYS unload your truck, or at least, have a bed cover over your gear. Can’t trust people these days. To say I’m angry is a totally fair.

Someone may have mentioned this already so if so I apologize for repeating it, but it could be worth a call to your home owners or renter’s insurance. They will often cover stolen stuff. When I was younger I had several thousand dollars worth of freshwater bass rods stolen at a boat ramp. It was all covered.

When I was 14-15 I dropped the cash on two brand new fishing setups after working my ass off the summer before to save for them  nothing super expensive but ~350-400 between the two new rods, reels and line

Took them out for their first trip on the 4th of July,  brought my grandpa to the lake, caught a few fish, brought him home, stopped at one final spot for a few casts before heading home

Grabbed a different rod

Went fished for 25 min, returned to my car. Door had been jimmied open and two new setups were gone. Along with my backpack with every ounce of my fishing tackle

As well as the car I was parked next to

Had to ask someone else at the river to call the cops for me

Never got any of it back

I still look for that white conversion van with the plywood box on the roof

Would absolutely love to run into them again some day

I could think of more fitting words than bold.

You ain't wrong.

Trying to hold onto upstanding citizen status on this site however....

Gotta say, this only justifies my being paranoid about leaving rods/reels separated, and taking stuff into the house whenever possible.

Hate to hear that. Unfortunately, regardless of where you live, anything unattended or unlocked will likely be stolen.

Like Adam 54 said people like that get little enjoyment out of life. They are constantly looking to score off someone and always watching not to be scored on. Not exactly a rewarding life, those type people don't even trust their own family members.

See if your neighbors have cameras facing your direction. Hopefully something comes up.

^ this.... doorbell cams. I wouldn't doubt one of your neighbors has it on video.

Everybody knows there are cameras everywhere. Cameras are not a deterrent to anything. All cameras do is capture people with their hoods up and heads down.   Don’t waste your time or money. Better plan is to not leave valuables outside and make sure our police are funded.

I'd waste my time watching hours of video just to see who the poop stain is. Police won't do a damn thing for missing rods.
