I haven't fished off a bridge in years.  Maybe it's different now with the new super lines and rods, but when I did it, you needed a bridge gaff to land fish.  This rule is going to put a big damper on bridge fishing.

Pier nets work just fine.

I really don't understand the obsession with "spot burning" here. If someone wants to post a picture and there's a house in the background that you can use to triangulate the exact location on Google maps, is that really a big deal?

This is New Jersey. Theres several books filled with spots in them. There's dozens and dozens of articles about each part of the state. There's a weekly video forecast with reports from tackle shops all over the state. The spots are burnt to ashes already. Who cares about posting a picture where all you get is confirmation of the information you already knew?

I get why someone wouldn't want to burn their own spot, but who cares if they do? It really doesn't matter to me anyway as I have my own spots I'm not burning, but really don't understand the need to ban it altogether.

New guy so I'll answer this question (again)

This site is different than most because of its size. You post something like that on some small FB site and maybe 100 people will see it, if only 1% of those people go check it out it's still only 1 person.

10,000 may see it here, 1% of 10K is a 100 person mob and now you can't get near the bite you yourself found. Why would you want to do that ?

The Monmouth / Ocean bridges that had too much current to use a pier net for have been off limits for a few years anyway

They were always off-limits. We got chased off them many a night.
