Report as little or as much detail as you would like to provide the reader but please don't post specific street names or areas.

A specific spot is too much information!
It's not like telling a friend or two, posting it here is telling thousands. Doing so only creates crowds, garbage, and loss of our spots.

For example, you can say that you caught fish in Ocean County but saying that you got them at Ocean Beach is a no-no.

The terms to use are..........
Monmouth County
Ocean County
Atlantic County
Cape May County
North Jersey for the Hudson and other backwaters.

County name plus "In the back" for Inlets, Rivers, and Bays.

Try to keep other conversations, inquires, and rants in separate threads.

Was gonna try and see this weekend (a reel I dropped off for service 2 weeks ago was complete yesterday and I need to pick it up). But I have never had good luck this early.

Nice rainy day today. Dropped a really small one a few feet from me. Skunk it is, my fake worm was a little too long. Yeah, that's what she never said.

Skunk report on daytime incoming in the RB, no signs of life in the water but water clarity was bad so no sight fishing bait anyways. Did not see any Gannets I heard have been spotted in NJ.

thanks for heads up on that one Sir.  I occasionally fish with one.  Keeps my @$$ from becoming crab food on the rocky jetties.

Thanks for this,

This type of information is what this NJ forum needs more of.

Pictures of dying fish on dry sand with a lure hanging out of it's mouth gets old!

One of the great things about fishing from the sand is that you never have to gaff a fish. When I used to fish the rocks, I always scouted for a place to haul the fish in without gaffing it. Using the tide, current, wave action, etc. enabled me to land most fish without a gaff. When I did use one, I employed a trick an old timer taught me and hooked on to one of the exposed trebles and pulled the striper up that way. It was rare that I ever gaffed a fish. Since I switched over to C&R, I'm not even sure where my gaff is.

Took a quick look out front this morning. Heavy surf with some decent fronts on the waves. Surfers were having a ball. Will take my first cast, out front, on St. Paddy's Day. I've never caught anything on that date, but failure to do so will bring an Irish fishing curse on me for the year. No need to hear a banshee keening my name.

BTW, a reminder that the Committee ruled years ago that no fish count until @MC55 comes out of hibernation!
