travisoneil
I've always been intrigued about pompano fishing. I've spent my time surf fishing along some of the beaches in Delaware down to the OBX but have very limited experience southward. I'm looking to spend a few days in Florida and really wanted to target pompano. Any recommendations on beach location and time of year would be appreciated greatly! Thanks again and tight lines!! Connetquot
Last year we did a vacation on Saint Simons Island in Georgia in mid-October. I caught two Pompano fishing with a slip sinker about 1 - 1.5 oz, kahle type hook and fresh dead shrimp. They were about 12 - 14", not as big as the one above. I was fishing in a small inlet on the beginning of the outgoing tide. I was using lighter spin rods with about an 8lb test line. We're headed back at the end of the week and I need to replace the old mono with braid. All sitting on the workbench. hhager23
They supposedly love sand fleas but I've caught most mine on dead shrimp as well. RAW 1 "A land without memories is a people without liberty" - Robert E. Lee

From the beach : cast it out I like to let it hit bottom then one turn on the reel handle then jig it a few pops let it drop again , from the dock let it hit bottom jig it up a few pops , let it drop hold on ! Pomps , Jacks , Flounder , the guy who I meet at the jetty in the morning took a nice juvenile Tarpon on it , watch those hooks Uncle Stu 1 If it has fins i want to catch it
