We've had shovel-able amounts of snow a couple of times in Framingham, although to your point....not a lot (the big thing is that we haven't had to break out the roof rake yet). I think the year we had the April Fool's storm back in 97, we had next to nothing until that point...so it would be wise to keep your guard up right through mid April.

Although I've lived in New England a long time (since 1988), I'm not originally from this area...and sometimes I'm still taken aback that March is just another winter month. In most places south of New England, March is the month you start to get that smell of spring in the air, the scent of freshly mowed lawns, etc. That's a late April to even May thing around here

I’m in Merrimack NH, I’ve plowed snow twice this year. One of the worst years of plowing that I can remember since I started plowing in 94.

How much snow does Massachusetts get in the winter?

However, the average snowfall in Boston is anywhere from 30 to 50 inches annually, which is certainly nothing to scoff at in terms of winter weather! The further west you go, the more snow you are likely to experience in Massachusetts, something to keep in mind if you plan on visiting or living in this state.Dec 20, 2022

Somebody correct me if im wrong, but I dont think there ever has been a winter here with no snow at all. Even at Logan Airport where most of the Boston precipitation data is recorded. There've been some winters with very little snow (i believe 2011-2012 was one?).

Anyway we ain't done yet in 2023. :)

Ya, so far we have significantly less snow. Still another 2.5 months to go really. Personally crossing my finger I won't have to break out my snow blower at all. We've been lucky (or unlucky).

Here is a chart I found for Boston snowfall sorted by rank with the lowest amount of snow fall each season. So far this season is #2 least.

Wasn’t 2015 pretty snowless until around this time of the year and then all hell broke loose?

I doubt we get much this year though as temps are going to be pretty warm for at least the next couple of weeks.

I doubt there's been zero snow ever but you'd have to narrow down your location.

Where I am we had 3 or 4 shovelable storms. Not much but enough to leave a little snow cover. Ultimately it has melted pretty quick, to the point a couple times I didn't bother to shovel. Just let it melt.

My youngest who loves sledding only got his first chance at the end of January.

One thing I noticed this year is how just a little west or north can make a difference. I could jump in my car and drive only 10 minutes in those directions and go from no snow to a few inches or more.

Had 4 or 5 plowable storms here. Still have a few inches on the ground.

Don't remember the exact year but sometime in the last 5 or 6 my local golf course opened up in early March. A couple weeks after we got a foot of snow and they closed until mid april.

It'll be interesting to see if this year follows the pattern I've noticed in which warm winters are followed by cold dreary spring.

As a skier, this year has created the worst snow conditions in NE ski resorts that I can remember, at a time when most areas have been taken over by huge corporations that have jacked the prices well over $100 for a weekday pass and over $200 on weekends.

Yes the snow this year sucks. It seems like every time we get some decent snow it’s followed by a warm week or heavy rain. The lift ticket prices at the big mountains are insane.

I recall after 9/11, during the recovery phase, the winter was mild and without much snow at all, which was a blessing. A big snowstorm or blizzard would have made a horrible situation that much worse.
