saltfisherman
Spent the morning fishing and not cleaning for a change. I rather did okay, not stellar but worth wide. i caught these fish in an area no greater than 50’ and no wider than 5’. Bite was an hour and over. Hooked 3 reds caught 2, lizard fish, puppy drum, sheepshead. Those lizard fish hit like a fish 100x their size. So here’s one for the books. I caught a nice small ladyfish for cut bait, bleed it and set in the kayak under my leg. The darn thing jumps out of the kayak to never be seen. I figured okay I’ll just give it a bit of time to surface and I’ll grab it. Well that never happens. Some osprey will get it eventually. That sea anemone was at the launch and I’ve never seen one that close to shore and in the bay. It must have been brought in from Ian. flyangler and Hook I

I always pick up 50 shrimp and most of the time I’ll have some frozen to cut as chum. These would be those left over from the day fishing the week prior. Plus, Add a couple finger mullet as cut bait. Im not finding big numbers of mangrove snappers, and sheepshead are in short supply. The water has warmed up with our warm temps recently.

bill dietz
Salt, thank you for the report. I’ve been contemplating heading over to Little Carlos Pass and launch there to do some fly fishing. Continued reports of bad water quality have prevented me from doing same. ive been fishing in the Estero bay feeder creeks and picking away on the resident juvi tarpon. Caught three last week with all being very small. keep up the good work! Bill Hook I

The years past they have been stacked in there. Even the snapper don’t seem to be there in good numbers. The docks inside there are gone, so no structure to speak of like that. The posts are still there, and iffy on productivity. The water is actually quite warm for this time of the year. The tides for the past times out have been screaming so I haven’t been able to anchor up on new pass bridge the fish the outer sides of the center channel. There is usually do pretty good for larger snapper.
