Cable tv the worst, I expected an increase, so I called . I said let’s compare notes, She gave last months and compared while on the phone, I questioned 50% increase and said that’d not right, She then said the storm outage created some glitches, So if yours is not inline with new rate and usage same, make a call

Same here.  This makes the second year in a row with big increases.

Is it possible that the large increases may be payback  for  the North Pass refusal ?

Everywhere utilities prices have risen faster far higher than other things. Certainly all the storms don’t help. When we lived in Ma our electric company would not come on anyone’s property till all down trees were cleared and any external on the house repaired/replaced. The electric company did terminate on their pole till all was completed on homeowner’s property, But anyways we have little choice in what big Gov. Mandates

I'm sure our reverting back to oil dependence from countries whose religious leaders openly preach our death has nothing to do with any of this.

Keep this up and in 20 more years you'll be living in a tent with a camp fire and some homeless folks as neighbors. Maybe Spaghettios on a Friday night, good livin'.

Ya' really can't beat em', soon internet will go through the roof, all the cable naysayers still need internet, thats where the $$ are and thats where these big cable companies are gonna hit back. Not enough of us $300 a month chumps to keep signing up, we are a breed of the past, just make it easy to operate and keep the problems to a minimum and we will pay the fee. Todays folks don't want it or need it, they are happy streaming and binge watching, I'd join them but no desire to learn the tactics needed lets say to watch a live ballgame. Too many options for me.

I'd bet in 3 years time internet access will double in cost.

It makes me wonder what all these rising costs do to the payback time for installing geothermal. It has advantages over air based heat pumps, but is pretty costly. The old ROIs I saw stated 5-10 year paybacks, but given electric rates and in my case cost of K1 it feels like that number should be lower.

I have Geo it’s very expensive to set up. You also need to have your home insulated with spray foam so that the system can maintain the temperature of the home without working too hard. Then you need to add a humidifier kit to it because the air does come out very dry. My electric bill in running the heat this winter has been about 600 a month. To help reduce the electric bill I installed an intelestart system which essentially assists in reducing the electric load the system needs for it to start up. You may also need to rewire your home to make space for the system.

Im happy to be down to around 200$ in this house for electric. Last house was double that. Cant imagine what it would be now 3 years later. Water bill is freaking insane, where each bill is 75$ just for service. Now what used to be a 60-70$ bill is at least 120$.

I don't know what others are doing, but people like i are going to the mattress. We’re cutting way back on everything until we see how this garbage economy plays out.. and of course if we can trim 2/3 of our costs, there are others doing the same. It’s certainly not doing the economy at large any favors. The worst is yet to come. Votes matter

We've cut back on most things, but we've always been pretty frugal. I got to age 67 never having a water bill, always had a well, it kinda sucks. Hopefully I get the lake house up to snuff in the next couple years and just move up there. Convincing the other half of that plan may be a challenge though!
