white toothbase rubbed in circular motion with microfiber cloth then wipe clean, then furniture oil.  cigar ashes and linseed oil is an alternative.

Mayonnaise, leave overnight, rub off in the morning.

Get artsy with some scratch repair markers/crayons; or get bigger placemats.

Oxalic acid normaly works unless your table finish is lacquer. It will lighten the spot for sure. You can then use a colored wood finish wax.

I'm going to say sand it down and refinish it. Repairing any surface will always show. Paint, stain, etc. Unless you are going for "barely notice it" status, it will always be there. Anyways, if it were me, I'd just do the extra work and refinish it. Good luck.
