Have a friend who's looking for me to build him around 9-9'6 that's 2 piece and will throw from 1-3 comfortably

Probably mod/fast

Looking for any suggestions

Don't have a  problem cutting a blank down a bit to make that work

Any suggestions/

Any experience with the gsb skinner blanks?

REVSU100M

Cut it down to 9' and you should be able to put the stripper and runners on the top section.

Built one of those for some one awhile back felt like a decent rod but I didn't fish it. But if he is looking for convenience with the 2 pc that is a 70/30 split I believe top is still over 6 feet.

Got it, any clue how well it throws it's top end of the rating?

Guy has a pickup with a cap, 6' should fit, I think he's just trying to avoid a 1 piece

Anyone have experience with the rod geeks SRF90MM2 or SRF90MMF2?

The MM2 is a nice plugging rod. Gets a little soft on the upper end. Good up to 2.5 to 2.75 ounces. Throws down to 1/2 oz. bucktails.

Exactly what I wanted to hear

Might very well be what I end up going with

Only reason I'm considering the mmf is because they want "something with backbone" and I think a slightly faster rod might translate better to that

The MM2 has a glass tip so it’s whippy up top but is graphite the rest of the way. It has backbone to land descent fish.
The MMF is a stiffer faster rod. Will do the upper end better.

Best comparison would be Mojo (mmf) vs Avid (mf)

I bought two SRF90MM2.  I built one last year for a friend.  Before building them, when tested from a static position (carefully bending on carpet), one was somewhat stiffer than the other.  And, I marked spine with a China marker first and tried different positions, anyway.  However, measurements of the tip top section, butt section, length, and action were the same, so I do NOT think one is an MF (sent by accident).  Without test casting, mine seemed like the range would start and end approximately 1/4 to 1/3ish oz. heavier.  I’m actually fine with that and actually prefer that range, so not an issue to me but was something worth noting.  Despite those differences, I would buy again and think this is my preferred 2 piece 9’ blank at any price and it is reasonably priced.

He fished his last year and it was nice casting, especially for a two piece 9 footer. Many 2 piece nine footers are generally underwhelming compared to 9 foot one piece, IMHO.

I’m almost finished with mine and hope to have it done within the next couple weeks.  In the past I’ve personally preferred Lami one piece blanks, but have since converted to 2 piece rods for convenience and I happen to like some of the RodGeek actions, particularly the 9’ mm, 10’6” mm (both have some glass as noted above), and the 11 foot models.  I’ve held the 10’ model and it seemed like a much faster rod than any in the series.  Good luck.

I used my 10’6” mm2 this fall for a week after my GSB 1201L needed a guide and grip repair.

The RodGeeks stick did everything my GSB does.
