Line Clip on Saragosa?? WTH!

I couldn’t make up my mind and just splurged big time and bought a Stradic 6000 a Saragosa 6000HG and a Saragosa 8000HG. That's a lot of mullah in my budget and I’ve just noticed the spools have no line clips. I use those clips and I believe every reel I own has them. Instead of the clip they give you a glorified rubber band!

Whats the story with this madness? I've got 8 or 10 Shimano reels and I'm a bit irritated. If they're saving a nickle there, what other shortcuts are hidden internally? Of course i can deal with the issue but I don't like getting cheaped out.Maybe its because I'm the only guy that uses it? IDK....  &:)!@!

I believe they might save money on excluding the line clips.

I assure you - the quality at price point is just fine.

I used to enjoy line clips also, but after purchasing the same reels can assure you the switch is fairly painless.

None of the higher end saltwater Daiwa or Shimano reels have that line clip and it's been that way for awhile now. Only the original Saragossa had it, the last model didn't and the current model doesn't either.

Ehhh not true.

The new 5k/6k certate sw's have em.

Pretty lame honestly

I started taking my daughters hair ties for fishing stuff... multipurpose.

One reason is to keep 2 piece rods together during travel. The other, for this thread directly because of the line clips/line management...

Once you make the rubber band(or hair tie in my case) the standard for your workflow, you won't notice the line clips not being there ever again.

Saltwater reels have not been equipped with them for years now

Here's an interesting bit of trivia: those clips are not for clipping your line at the end of a session to stop the line unraveling

They are for clipping your line at a fixed casting distance so that you can cast "to the clip" and repeat distances accurately.

Not madness.

See how long a clip lasts (or even functions as intended) with 40 + lb leader.

What happens if the clip fails while running offshore.........

Spool bands are a functional improvement.

Just sucks that it's not part of the reel...

That is very cool trivia and I'm glad to learn it.
