Confused about double drop mono bottom rig

Someone generously gifted me a whole bunch of these rigs. But I have some questions.

#1 What is up with giant eye piece up top, why did they use this instead of a standard swivel ?
#2 It's 60 lb test mono but the snaps kinda look like something you would use on 8 lb test for bass fishing ?
#3 Why did they choose to have the weight end of the rig be a swivel ? (unless I am missing something I will need to provide my own snap or mono loop to attach weight)
#4 If I attach snelled hooks to the snaps aren't the leads going to get tangled really bad from being so close together ?

I am at a loss at what these were intended for.

The top is actually the bottom. Giant clip is for sinker. Waaaaay too much hardware. Destroying the rig will net you 1 sinker clip 2 snaps and 2 swivels.

I think you are looking at it upsidedown. The large eye is the bottom for your sinker/weight. The small swivel at the other end is where you attach it to the rest of your line (typically assuming you terminate your line with a snap or even a tactical angler clip).

Yes, if you use long snelled hooks, they will get tangled. You need to use very short snelled hooks (only 1 inch or less), basically the snelled hook plus immediately into a loop.

Personally I make similar rigs, but I don't put that big eye at the bottom (I use either a snap swivel or just make a loop out of the mono). I also just use loops where they put those small snaps and I can just attach hooks directly by passing the loop into the eye, go around the hook, and pull tight. If I think I have more toothy fish, I will use a bit of wire leader on the hook with a loop and use the similar loop-to-loop knot to secure.

Thanks, I am assuming these were originally picked up at bargain outlet like Ollie's or something. The "clips" are unfinished then, there is a seam but its totally surrounding with no exit for the wire end. I would need to finish cutting and crimping it.

Slide the metal cover in the middle up to open the sinker clip.

Wow, I like to think I would have eventually figured that one out. I am a big dumb dumb haha.

Well, everyone has been in the situation where they have not seen a piece of hardware before and need to figure out what it is and how it works. We have all been there :D
