cheech
Combat crawling under houses is never enjoyable!. This would have been ME, but ‘Thank God’ my contractor buddies son worked with him today. Forget about making a path, dragging in lights, tools, fittings, cutting out old work and running/ hanging the new pipe. All this splendor while mostly on your back and side, with thick airborne dust, bugs, and low temps. The couch is way more fun. Tis better to remain silent and thought the fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.

Fun stuff, i'll be under mine this spring and have even less room lol, sucks If you try to change it, you will ruin it. Try to hold it, and you will lose it. Scallywag
I only have a small poured crawl space under the addition. I've done some work in there and I can pretty much sit up right. Still tighter than I'd like to work. I don't envy that dude.
gellfex
I have one 25 ft long extension on a building with a crawl that's even lower. Fortunately both times I've had to mess around down there, adding a exterior hose bib in the way back and running a thermostat wire, I've had young men available. If I paid the heating bill myself I'd have to consider how to get done the nightmarish job of putting insulation into the joist bays.

Insulation compresses way more than bodies, no matter their age

The only thing he had going for him was in the cool weather the overwhelming fumes of PVC cement in a crawlspace were probably just a little less...Helped my cousin redo his drain lines one hot summer day in a very small crawl space. I am sure my IQ dropped a few points that day richie c
Weaver1
When I first broke into the trades I had to build a form for a concrete pad for an elevator in a residential house. Because of the way the form had to be built I couldn’t do it from inside the shaft of the elevator. I had to crawl from the back of the house to the front with 2x4’s tied to my legs and work in an 18”high crawl space. Once I started in I couldn’t turn around until I reached the front of the house about 40’. After two full days of misery, my boss shows up and says “the flooring is being replaced why didn’t you just cut a hole in the floor and pop down right next to the shaft.” Lesson learned. Crawlspaces can be terrible.
cheech
One aspect of plumbing in a crawlspace has improved drastically. With the advent of Pex and flexible gas lines, stringing across gas, water and heat lines is now almost civilized. However, It all looks like Crap vs the old days of laser straight runs of rigid pipe. I guess that’s progress.
