Probably for the same reason that made you go buy them at inflated prices on eBay. Just trying to be funny. But they seem to be a hot lure right now.

They were the lure of choice for the entire Southern California fleet from back in April of 2022 ,very productive lure for Bluefin trolling from 12- 14knots. When the fish moved up to Northern California then everyone up here were trying to get them too. At one point the 240's were up to 200 bucks a piece. By far their most profitable design thus far. The Bluefin like the wiggle and the speed. The demand for them has been through the roof.

while I didn't  have an off shore rig I restored an old Donzi

So I have been lucky to be around the water and lotsa different boats and I am excited to go chase offshore on my own rig again.

my last goes off to college this year and if i can find time with work I am anxious to try a different style of boat and the scaled down gear

i spent the last few years thinking about what boat to replace the Contender with and we shall see how it goes

Sounds fun I'm in the middle of a restore on an old skiff myself, full strip down to bare hull and rebuild. Many hours of labor but she'll be worth it in the end.

That Donzi is riding NICE

Always loved them

My family has two 'camps' (VT lingo) on Lake Champlain.  Always dreamed of restoring one for up there.  But reality gets in the way, I don't spend enough time up there to justify it, and other family members would run it to death and maintenance, let alone proper maintenance as far as any of the family boats go up there, is not high on their list.

Nice job.  How fast does she run with the throttle down?

Growing up working on my old mans marina we had a lot of boats and many different styles from Bertram expresses to scarabs and everything in between. When i was about 10 he got me a little Glastron bay boat and my older brother had a Rabalo center console. We would see the little classics on the back water running that end of the day inky smooth water and than idling buy with that lumpy throaty isle and I would beg my old man to buy one and his buddy who owned the marina next store and who was like an uncle to me an old salt named Emil McClusky would say stosh the kid will kill himself so I got a shamrock inboard :)

so a few years ago  I came across the right hull from a time before the chop gun ruled the day and took to redoing it

The hull was solid and i had to do some glass and gelcoat work in the cockpit but all in all the hull was solid and the outside gel came back well

the inter testing part was the old tired blue motor under the hatch. So while i was working on the hull

The motor went to old Price Turner for a full rebuild. Price is a well noted big block marine guy

so you have a 502 bored 30 over with a new blue motor ground cam total rebuild domed pistons roller rockers IMCO headers running a 4 blade labbed prop and it hits 84 mph if i switch the 4 blade to a 3 blade labbed left hand prop over 87 but it gets kinda scary

it is a pretty boat
