Lures With Eyes

I throw all my stuff blind. Everything I make is blind.  Some feel eyes are needed on a lure for fish to hit it. What say you?

On average i dont think it matters, but there are days when fish are super picky and it may play a factor.  I put eyes on all my teasers, but it may be more for me then the fish.  But sometimes little details matter.

You might be over thinking this. Did yo notice that people don't care ? Do you think fish are smarter than these people ?

I prefer the way a blind plug looks. The fish don't care.

In water like this eyes are “probably” not important.

In water like this eyes “could possibly” be important.

I imagine on a dark moonless night it would be similar to picture 1. At dusk in clearer water or with a full moon maybe the eye "silhouette"  or insinuation helps. All fish have eyes so it probably cant hurt. Probably.

My gut says it shouldn't matter but all the plugs I fish seem to be built with them. Many plastics are not.

The plugs I have started to build have them  but like kooky said they are probably there more for the fisherman than for the fish. I cant imagine many surface plugs actively benefit from eyes but like has been said many many times its about confidence in a lure. If you like it and think itll catch fish and work it it probably will. Until it doesnt.

I think silhouette and profile are more important than eyes, but I think in most instances eyes won't hurt and in some cases they may help. I think even in rough or dark water that little bit of flash and color from the eyes helps fish notice the bait and key in on the head, and commit to the strike.

Eyes have it. Especially if a fish species typically eats prey heads first. All my flies have eyes and some semblance of a lateral line with a body shape. Plugs too.

I'd say without as we really don't know what fixed eyes look like to a fish, surely not the same as real fish eyes.

Most of the painting and fine tuning to lures are sales related pitches.

I’m sure eyes help as every bait fish and even squid have big noticeable eyes.
Most of my soft plastics don’t have eyes and still catch fish though. Would they work even better with eyes? Maybe.
