ZBELT 2 Tube Bag Reviews

Anyone use the ZBELT two tube bag? Was looking to grab either the gear up 3 tube bag or the ZBELT 2 tube bag, overall I like the ZBELT bag better in terms of size & design however I do know that gear up is sailcloth whereas the ZBELT is pvc coated polyester. Couldn’t find many reviews on the ZBELT bag. Was wondering how it’s held up for those that do have it and if the hooks get caught in the bag since it isn’t sailcloth.

I've had one from fairly early on when they came out ( before they upgraded the tube material itself )

And it's held up really well, still looks basically new

It's a great design and seems to be quite thought out from a fisherman's viewpoint where things are and how things work

My one gripe is the old tubes they used were slightly more prone to cracking and I've had that happen

That being said Luke stands by his products and has replaced them free of charge for me (as well as given me an entire spare set of tubes  which I use to swap out between big plugs and more reasonable plugs

Haven't had any major issues with hooks sticking in it,

Not saying it won't ever happen but I personally haven't had it happen basically at all

I've also got a spare single tube that they sell and it is a comparable product

Price is reasonable ( and was even more reasonable when I grabbed mine early on)

And I wouldn't hesitate to grab another one to use

I suppose my one other negative is a lack of bucktail/tin slots,

There's room for plugs, soft plastics, leader material, hooks, terminal tackle  etc but only a handful of bucktail slots.

May not be an issue for the average person but I wish I had a handful more

That’s good to hear that the main problem you had wasn’t really even with the bag yourself. Thank you for the feedback

Gotta tell yah...had an hour long conversation with Luke at the show.

What a nice guy.

Bought a belt and a single tube bag.

I liked the external design of the bag flap, easy access to ta clips...more importantly...I can see at a glance if I have TA clips with me. LOL

Yeah I like the design of the zbelt very much. As mentioned by @GrahamN seems to be made from a fishermans pov

Absolute top notch bag, actually ended up selling the gear up bag you mentioned above after I fished with the Z bag. My favorite part between the side buckle and side pouch is that you can literally do anything with it from carrying your boga, pork rind, jig pouch, waterbottle… endless possibilities. Now I do agree that I wish I had more buclktail/jig slots but other custom tube divider builders online make dividers for jigs and other stuff that you can use. Luke backs his products hard and is a stand up guy. Nothing but good things coming out from them

Yeah I did a bit more research and overall I think the zbelt bag will suit me much better. Sure the gear up is sailcloth and hooks won't get stuck but that's about the only benefit. Zbelt is cheaper, better design IMO, more useful pockets, and well Luke is a closer native guy to me so probably would be a lot easier if I needed help.

Hooks getting stuck is a total no go.

ive been using a supreme surf bag and rarely do i get my hooks stuck in the bag so that being the only benefit of gear up compared to benefits of the zbelt is not worth it

I have one.  I actually first bought one early last year and fished it for the spring, then got distracted by custom sailcloth bags, and I have now come back to the ZBag.  It's not sailcloth, but it is super rugged.  You'd have to try pretty hard to get a saltwater hook stuck in there.  I also like this bag because it has a lot more flexibility in storage use--especially if the alternative you're considering is a gear-up 3 tube.  Gear up stuff is nice, but minimalist in terms of storage imo.  The integrated boga holder is pretty sweet and works really well for easy access.  You can also use it as an attachment for your pliers.

Also, maybe a small thing, but the tubes for the main section did not come attached, which provides more flexibility -- I can use one tube to bring a few plugs and slide in a small plano box full of epoxies or whatever.  The bag also has a few bucktail slots in the front.

Anyways--I say go for it.  If you aren't a purist about needing a sailcloth bag this is a fantastic option.  Very rugged bag with much more flexibility in use/rigging than you are likely to find in a non-custom sailcloth bag.

Love to hear it, thank you! Will try to grab the belt/bag at the next show

It appears this bag has mesh on the flap pockets, if so, CAUTION!

One evening my uncle and I are out in waist deep water, he comes tight and in the process of landing and releasing, the fish and plug got snarled up in a mesh pocket on his bag. The rodeo was on!

He uses a Flatlander now.

Always remember, if it can happen, at some point it will happen… LOL!

The bag is perfect design with the fisherman in mind, however, as others stated, it’s not made of sail cloth.

The Zbag looks awesome. But would have to say that two tubes is not three tubes. Some big wood can pretty much take up one tube. Just something to keep in mind. I tried using a 2 tube bag for a while but quickly found out it didn’t have enough space for what I wanted to bring on most of my trips. The 3 tube gear up bag is totally great. You can also slide extra plugs or lures in between the bag and tubes if needed without worrying about the hooks poking through the bag. I really like how it’s very light and compact.
