He just rushed over from Sam’s Club where he purchased that 9’ or 10’ ‘Lifetime’ toy pond kayak.

Time of prep & packing to leave, as well as equipment costs, these are the main reasons I haven’t gone further with kayak fishing. 

Agree.  I've thought about outriggers in the past, but keep coming back to "more stuff".  I don't go out far, I'm content with my "sheltered" locations.  I edge out a little when the water is calm, but when the butterflies start, that tells me to move in closer.  

 

As far as the rod singing while on the kayak, it doesn't take much wind to make 'em sing.
