Tied these a gift to a family friend P1190226.JPG.f6fd346cb99ca13a85a90a4d42c0a870.JPG

My brother & I used to slay 'em at Quabbin when we trolled a Cardinelle streamer (the pink one in the center of your pic).

I'm tying some articulated Cardinelles for the up coming season to see if the articulated version has more enticing action behind a dodger.

Question for you old timer flyers.

Who invented the Cardinelle?

2 people, Bill Chiba &  Paul Kukkonen of Worcester. I know Bill's son & grandsons.

Nice job. It's minimalism is exquisite. :)

I like the marabou version. If you twitch the rod while you're trolling, the marabou comes to life, imparting some nice movement that often entices a hit. We caught smallies, rainbows & salmon with the Cardinelle at Quabbin.

Correct.  Paul privately taught me to tie fies in his shop on Green Street. The Cardinelle was the first fly he ran up the flagpole.    I never tied it because I didn't think it would catch trout.

Actually, Ma forum member stifftip has the inside scoop on the fly and it's origins.

I know WHO gets credit for it.

Paul gets more credit than Bill in some books.
