Original GSB & the Kennedy Fisher, are the rods/blanks you seek.

He will seek far and wide for a JK Fisher blank that's never been built on, and likely never find.

Gsb 1201L ,Gsb 10201M ,Gsb 1321M and Gsb1321Moldschool is what I have for surf rods. I absolutely love them all….. I definitely haven’t tried all the other companies surf rods but I can definitely say that Gsb’s are very durable and awesome surf rods!

9'2" Cape Cod Striper rod is fast action rod.We introduced 9'6" and 10'6" Striped Bass Special Moderate/Fast and Moderate rods.

but Those rods are not 100 percent moderate, but moderate enough for most anglers.  Fully moderate rods are popular mostly among NY and NJ anglers.

The weight of 9'6" Striped Bass Special Moderate/Fast and Moderate 3/4 oz - 4 oz is only 9/8 oz.

Thanks, Kil!  Do you think the 9'6 Moderate-Fast rod would be a good pencil popping rod?

That’s the kind of info I need to help me and others with deciding.  Thanks Paul.

Dz,

I usually fish a black hole east coast special 11' 2-6oz rod that i made myself. It is faster than the gsb, but is more sensitive and has more power. I have deadlift 15lb fish and swung 20lb fish onto a jetty (im sure you know which one) in your area. I can also say i feel as confident with the durability of this rod as i do with a gsb. I have beat the crap out of it and its still going strong.

I also have the black hole cape cod special nano rod that is 10'6" 2-6 oz. I love this rod because it is sensitive and moderate! The only downside is it does not punch into the wind the way i would like. Therefore, i pick the nights i fish with it.

Hope this helps

There is No substitute for the GSB!

Plenty of great blanks out there but ALL are compared to the GSB for good reason!

Yes, king!

All gsb are especially good for pencil poppers. That’s one of my favorite plugs to throw.  1201L for 1-2.5oz pencils and 1201m and 1321m for 2-4oz pencils…..

I passed on a kennedy fisher rod a few years ago. Still hurts when I think about it.

There was one for sale in the WTS threads a few months back. I know how you feel about not getting one when you had the chance.

Maybe not a virgin blank, but if one seeks, there is the chance of finding one to rebuild on.

Hell yeah GSB120 1m all day, Croix I’ve seen too many fold like a fragile bamboo stick

and if you can find a Harnell it’s heavy but bulletproof

can’t speak for the others mentioned but if I was to hit Montauk etc with 1 rod and not worry it would be that GSB 120-1m heavy yes but not a blank that if you Nick it it’s gonna fold

@slim_velvet

Yes, for what you wanna do it is king.  Be sure to figure out the flow and current you are fishing.  The 1201L cut down to 9 foot would serve you well for sand and light current.
It’s suggested you test one out in the current you wanna fish.  The L is superb but gets funky with a 40+ in an outflow.  She can do it, but I would like a M in that case.  By all means try to get a one piece.  That way you can lift a fish, and it excels over a 2 piece.  Best of luck.

Dont overlook a 9 foot S glass.  I have a 8’4 that works very well due to its moderate and parabolic action.  It’s not great to set a hook, but it’s indestructible.

I’ll second the Nex1 line.  I fished primarily  GSB models over the years then decided to try some of the new stuff everyone was raving about.  I tried just about every manufacturer over time lol.  Finally able to try the Nex1 a few years ago and love them.  No, not as parabolic/moderate as a GSB but not nearly as fast as some of the others.  It’s like a faster recovering or more “crisp” GSB if that makes sense.  I find the Nex1 on par with GSB’s durability as well.  That said I still have and occasionally fish a 1321M and trimmed down 1201L.

I have an original GSB 120m that I had rebuilt. It is still somewhat heavy but very durable and I like the way it handles big fish in heavy current, around rocks, structure ext.

I have a 9’ OMD  Nex 1 that I use more than my GSB 120m. Mostly because it’s somewhat lighter.
