I got the #1750

I set this up for a Jon- boat, but will probably add a deck later...

With J hooks or an A frame this could be a good and cheap kayak trailering option.

Maybe for freshwater, or making trips to the dump it will work short term. For a real salt water boat, I need to feel secure in the materials it’s made of. Most HF tools are a throw away or one time use for me. To each their own, but traveling down the road brings others into my responsibility. I’d pay more for peace of mind.

I'll take my chances. Surely, if haulmaster trailers were blowing up left and right and killing people there would be some kind of class action lawsuit or 60 minute exposé by now.

If you haven't already, you may want to add a load and follow with another car for to see how it performs.  I agree that HF must have a solid design.

Could be a good idea to go over all of the bolts to make sure they’re tightened properly.  Seems like a solid enough trailer.

I bought one used on craigslist about 10 yrs ago for $250 to take brush and other yard waste to the landfill after a serious cleanup. The guy put a floor and sides on it. Aside from tires I've done nothing to it (it lives in the edge of the woods) and is just starting to rust. Used it a couple of dozen times over the years.

Immature attitude on “I’ll take my chances”.  You get what you pay for.

Okay, I'm 600 bucks in on a DOT approved trailer rated for 1800 lbs. that I'm loading with +/- 300 lbs.

What would be a mature attitude? Chop it up, take it to the scrapyard and repent?

You can't be scared all your life.

I would pull the bearings, clean and regrease with a good quality grease.  Who knows what is in it from the factory.

This was a pita. The bearings were packed in wax. I flushed them with parts cleaner, dried them and packed with Lucas marine grade. I have about 5 miles test run at 40 mph up to 65 mph and hubs are cool to the touch but believe me that is a concern.

It came packed in a box. I assembled it myself with a torque wrench. The instructions didn't give torque specs so I googled them up. It's all zinc coated nylox fasteners just like my old Ironton trailer that's fasteners eventually fused together from rust.

As it should be.  Good on you.  Lot of people don't think about that stuff.

There you go. Jump a couple of curbs with it and see how it holds up!

I bought one a while back from HB. I've used it many times over the years but never on the highway.

From what I remember in the instructions it said not to use on highways and not to exceed a certain amount of MPH.

I believe the tires are not rated for this.

An upgrade on the tires is needed to use safely on highways.

My two cents. Be safe.
