Anyone know anything about these boats? I can’t find anything online.

They popped right up after a google search. Dinghy type boats.

RockfishOn!!

They make a fiberglass dinghy, I don’t know how they could screw that up unless the laminate schedule was totally wrong. It looks like it’s out of their home so they probably don’t make a ton of them and would likely take a little more time and care doing a decent job. Have you tried contacting them?

They also made a 14ft skiff. I’m looking into a used one from 02.

Ah, I’m not familiar with them. I’ll ask around and see if any locals know them. Most of the local small boat builders I’ve seen tend to overbuild their stuff, which is kind of nice but you need a little more power to get it going. Stur-d-boat comes to mind. It’s the larger production builders that tend to cut corners but even then it’s mostly about aesthetics because nobody wants the liability of building a crappy boat. Do you know who the designer of the boat you are looking at was? Or maybe what the hull design was called?  There are a lot of older moulds knocking about that get resold to another company and they start building them. Nothing wrong with that, moulds are expensive.

I went to their factory back around 2005 or so.

I’m not sure it’s the same people who are running things today but back then it was a small operation but they built good products and knew what they were doing.

Beacon built a 16 foot outboard skiff which I remember being produced by another company in the 1970’s.

Back in the 70’s it was known as a “Stonington Skiff.”

I asked the guy at Beacon if their boat was in fact the Stonington and he confirmed that it was.

That was a solid, well made boat and you’ll still find today them being beaten and abused in boatyards as work boats.
