In fairness to the 175# TA clip, it did not fail, was bent out of shape, but did not fail. 

That’s true, still held! My friend got too bored and tested a bunch of clips one day. I usually just stick to knots now

Umm... I had a few slip ... stopped using them. I know how popular they are out west so it must be my outstanding knot tying skills :freak:

Put your hook point around a fixed eye ring and tie the knot under tension ,I can tie up to 200lb mono and it won't slip. Party boats have fixed rings so you can secure your hook mostly for tying that knot.
