Top water strikes and watching eagles while fishing... That moment when there is a tug on the line, from pan fish to tuna, it is my drug of choice...

Having a good bite all to yourself at night, and knowing after the first few casts that you made the right call.

Watching my kids land fish and the proud look on their faces

Too many to list, but, with the season fast approaching;

First time walking out onto the ice in the dark. Utter silence. No human noise. Bright stars. Not silence after all. Ice moans. Coyotes call. Owls hoot. The feel of the cold air. The way it smells.

Driving to the fishing grounds.

There is always a sense of the unknown ahead, along with hope.

Alternatively:

Long drives home from fishing are easily the worst part of the trip. So terrible, I often make 20 last casts into a desert.. offtide.. rather than head for the whip.  I despise the return slog more than most things in life. Exhausted. Fishing over. Then two hours in the car in traffic. Not much sucks worse than that
