How much drag can you get out of a 20 international 2 penn reel

Well I’m not a big boat real guy, but I can tell you that the smaller conv. reels that we’re using in the surf can can usually get 15 pounds of drag with a simple drag washer upgrade!

It would depend on what kind of washer set up is in you’re reel!

Does it have the Penn Dura-drag washers in it do you know?

It has to be way more than 20pds just has to be!

Yeah I had to do a little research and see what the hell you were talking about lol!

I didn’t realize you were fishing landlocked stripers!

Kinda thought you were using that out in the ocean lol!

So, if I’m reading correctly, sounds like you actually sent the reel off to Alan Tani!

You didn’t want to mess around with it yourself huh lol!

As I’m sitting here busting your chops, I’m literally driving myself insane looking for a screw to a reel because I was too lazy to go inside lol!

Good thing I keep a scrap pile of reels smh!

You will notice that the drag cover is left off. I had to do the same with mine to get any decent freespool. Its Ok and now just like an Avet.

I bought n International II, 20 something, and sent it to Cal Sheets. Drag settings at his suggestion; 17 lb. at strike, 25 lb. max. It wears a 100-yard fluorocarbon leader, 60 lb., on 400+ yards of 80 lb. braid. This is for partyboat tuna fishing on one Viking boat or another. It should be more than sufficient for anything I meet.

Your rod also has lot to do with drag, just coming off reel and then off rod are different. Great reel, nothing beats a GOOD matched rod, and it's not always the price.
