Firefighters across the country have had to revise their vehicle fire protocols as more EVs hit the streets. Lithium-ion battery fires are notoriously difficult to extinguish using traditional fire hoses, and many fires take thousands of gallons of water to put out.

Burning Teslas get all the attention, but all brands are susceptible. However, Tesla is getting more attention this week: Reports of multiple fires are popping up as floodwaters from Hurricane Ian recede.

Clearly fighting a chemical fire with water isn’t going to work. Why do they keep trying? They are going have to start using foam or something else other than water. Or just drag the vehicle to a safe spot and let it burn out.

Sounds great for the environment! When are you getting your EV?

Can I patent the EV Burn bag?

It comes on a roll back with a heat resistant deck.

Will work on the cars but those F150's are gonna need a bigger bag!

Awesome should we install chemical hydrants now to the fire hydrants?

Swife got tow2d by AAA the other day. (They actually showed up!) Driver was saying that people get trapped in the cars and burn up  because the doors stop working. "But the news won't tell ya that." :dismay: The pomposity of simpletons. Like the media wouldn't love to lambaste Musk for killing customers. That would be a huge story. Mass panic. Stock plunge. It has everything. These idiots who think everything is a conspiracy need to start doing shots of cyanide. Just shut up and kiss a moving train you moron.

Well reasoned, well stated.

What's the environmental impact of that foam going down storm drains.

I bet it does a ton of damage:bucktooth:

When the Model T was first introduced, there were a bunch of problems and it was far from being a perfect answer to the transportation woes of the day. I presume the risk that the car could catch on fire was one of many concerns for the pro horse and buggy crowd... After all, horses rarely caught fire.

And I get it that's there's a certain (old people) segment of the population that is strongly opposed to the introduction of Electric Vehicles into the future of transportation.

But, you know, whether you like it or not, they're here. They're not going away. Yes, there'll be some problems, yes there'll be some issues, yes the risk of fire is one of those issues. There's going to be problems with charging them and the strain on our current grid, there's going to be battery disposal issues, flood issues and there's going to be problems and issues that no one has even thought of yet.

But, those issues, they'll all get worked out. And some day, after you're dead and gone, your grandkids will be telling stories to their children about the party they had when the last gas station closed. And they'll be very happy with their Electric Vehicle.

Simple fact of the matter is, electric vehicles are here to stay.

NO ONE CARES IF YOU LIKE IT OR NOT!!! There is not a single marketing or R&D company in the country that is designing vehicles based on what you want. Your days of driving (pun intended) the market are over, or darn close to it.

So get over it. AND STOP TURNING ECERY THREAD INTO A BITCHFEST ABOUT HOW MUCH YOU DISLIKE EV"S!!!!

:howdy:

Do it. I have a burn bag for charging RC and drone batteries. You just need a gigantic version of it. :)

Don’t be such a baby. Take a chain with a pole and spike on it. Stab it into the trunk drag it with the fire truck.

Do you generally get your news from tow truck drivers?

Litihium ion batteries do not need external oxygen to burn.   Foam will not work on this type of fire.   Water is all that will work.
