Pensacola, the story so far.

I made it to Pensacola beach and have done some exploring. Unfortunately on my first day fishing the yellow flag was waving at the pier so no calm waters. Also no fish as I encountered only one pod of dolphins, a stingray and a shark.

At Fort Pickens a deeper through near the beach yielded my first fish. Alas tiny jacks, ladyfish and a needle fish. Scouted the inside near the fishingpier and had another jack plus a missing take from a small flounder. Watched the blue angels take to the sky.

Arrived at the hotel with lead legs and an overdose of sun radiation.

Skipped fishing the next day to recuperate and started this morning with a walk to the pier. Watched big waves break on the shore so that sight fishing was impossible. Headed over to the bay and tried fishing over the grassbeds. Got bites but only trash fish like pinfish, lizardsfish and puffers. On the plus side the blue angels where once again in the sly doing their practice. Do not think I get a weatherbreak this week but keep trying.

When you fishing a troutwater yes, but I actually like chub. Lizardfish however not and those darn puffers instantly destroy your fly with their dentures.

Thanks for the clarification, I love catching pickerel and many here consider them trash fish, never understood why

Take the time to visit Fort Morgan and Jensen Beach. 
And you can’t visit that area without a visit to the Flori-Bama.

Those blowfish/puffer look like Northern Puffer. Surprised to see them down there. Good luck

Just messed up a cast to two big redfish. In hindsight I should have not tossed the clouser at them. So far only puffers. On the plus side the blue angels where tearing up the sky again.
