Transom Hanging of bunks (worried about hook?)

I know next to nothing on boats but have always wanted one. I came across a 16ft mirrocraft deep fisherman with an older 25 hp evinrude 2 stroke. My concern is that the transom hangs about 2ft of the bunks on the trailer. If I put a 4ft level up to the hull would I be able to tell if there was an issue?

That’s too much……Ideal would be 6/8 inches max and maybe have about 10/12 inches max of bunk extending from the bracket that holds the bunk.

Beyond that creates a lot of flexing……..which takes its toll on the transom and bottom. Look for oil canning on the bottom and the transom,

Sound as if the trailer was either too small, or they didn't have the winch stand far enough forward towards the tongue. Not uncommon, especially with owners that don't trailer very far.
