I know of one major surf tournament that was won by cheating

If money is involved so is cheating, these guys will hopefully go to prison

Isn't it on the organizers to make sure that doesn't happen? I just assumed every fish was cut open to make sure there was no funny business going on.

I thought this guy was caught cheating before.

Why not permanently ban him from any more tournaments and then this wouldn't happen again

If this is not the only way of cheating, what are some other ways?

The "winning" fish was caught by someone not entered/registered in the contest and "weighed in" by someone who had paid the registration fee.

Heard of this before second hand information from reliable sources, the kicker is the donator never got anything out of it.

There was a case years ago where a captain grabbed his fish and threw it in the drink after it was weighed and a metal detector was pulled out to check the fish.

Money makes people do funny things … and sometimes fishonest I mean dis honest things … wasn’t there a large fluke supposedly caught on a fishing pole but had net marks on it that were blamed on raccoons ? Then some else helped the person land the fish … only in n j ..

Crazy... well off with boats and expensive gear and still had to cheat. That's pure scum.

Money makes people do crazy things but chasing notoriety and "fame" can be an addiction just like any other.

He got his fame alright. I wonder what charges will stick on him.
