Question about Sandy Hook hours

Does Sandy Hook change hours for winter ? (most county and state parks do which is why I never really though about it).
Will someone give me a hard time if I am fishing out there in the dark this fall and it's before 8/9 pm and I don't have a night fishing permit ? (NPS website claims 9pm pretty sure sign in front of park is 8pm).

I personally have never gotten a ticket staying past sunset. But thats not to say they wont give you one.

I regularly get there right around 8pm in the fall and it’s not uncommon to see rangers checking the lots for passes right on time. Pretty sure if you are out before then or at least getting ready to leave you are in the clear.

edit: in my experience the rangers there are very nice and reasonable, though I’m sure it differs depending on who you are dealing with.

Don't linger.   The other night I left the beach with two other fisherman who didn't have a permit and they found tickets on their cars.   They were told by a ranger the park was closed and asked if they had a permit.   So the rangers did give them fair warning but they overstayed their welcome and got burnt.  There is an edge you shouldn't push

Alright thanks guys. I don't like sneaking around since I fish to relax but having somewhere I can go until 8pm is actually really helpful post clock changes. I don't mind paying for the night permit either, just missed the application window.

That'd be some walk.  What do you figure, about 30 miles give or take?

Does the pass allow me to access Sandy Hook before 6 am? I primarily fish early mornings 4:30 - 8:30 am and rarely go to Sandy Hook since they won't let anyone in until 6 am. Does anyone have experience with this? I live less than 5 minutes from Sandy Hook, so this would be ideal.
