First "different" change I saw in MTK was the old Windjammer Inn on Fort Pond Lake turning into North by Northwest? Or something to that effect. Went in for a cocktail after everybody "up Island" was talking about it. Through maroon velvet drapes to be greeted by two "10" hostesses no doubt brought in from the city. Candle lights on the table. Enjoyed the cocktail at the bar and headed back to Westlake for my home field. I think Harvest preceded it but for some reason I never felt it was over the top for Mtk. Great food, the bartender/ owner Jeff Locke? looked like Yannick Noah, very cool dude, very welcoming. After then The Old Shebeen/ The Place turned into The Surf Lodge and the rest is history.

Used to hammer the Linguini and White clam at Pizza Village :) in the 90's

No more ‘dine in’ at Village Pizza, was takeout only as of last Oct.

Anyone know why that nearby big breakfast place with the huge windows has been closed for years???

I think PV recently re-opened indoor seating and dining but that might had something to do with the labor shortage as well as covid.... that other place I think was the greek diner, not sure why it closed but I think it re-opened a few years ago as some kind of trendy coffee/breakfast place but that didn't last.. not sure if it was a covid casualty.

These days I only ever eat out at Big Johns or The Dock, 7-11 to refill the thermos or cooler, anyplace else and in a few days you could've made a couple new truck payments !

Funny how they fought tooth and nail to keep 7-11 out, yet since opening it's the companies #1 store in the entire country !

I am sad to hear that O’Murphys closed up shop. I heard they closed the original place and moved by the harbor but hadn’t been to the newer place. It was always a solid place for a good meal with a great staff. I haven’t been to Montauk in at least 12 years due to the Hamptons spreading east. I used to love going there multiple times a year with either the family or friends.

Damn fine Shepards Pie, and loved the old location being close to the places I used to stay before it got out of hand.  They were busy in the new place, but just felt bad for the old lady who ran the front having to deal with some colossal jerks/attitudes that used to prowl/crawl the Lake Dr. loop.  But it was nice for a while, being able to bounce back and forth between O'Murphy's and Liar's and stumble to whatever motel I picked, while avoiding the crazies at Salivar's, etc.
