What goes with this reel?

Have a new Daiwa Tatula 200HL, would appreciate rod recommendations for 1 to 3oz surface poppers and lures from jetties and beach.  Thanks in advance!

mmmmm, not sure that reel is what you want for the application.  I’d recommend a 6k or 8k series spinning reel. For that, Many people will say, allll depends on how much  you want to spend.  Budget: Tsunami Airwave, mid-range Star Rods Paraflex, higher end…. Well, sky's the limit.  Shimano Tiralejo might be a good choice…

There are all kinds of rods out there; from a moderate parabolic, moderate, moderate fast and rods with fast action. Go to rod demos where you can put your reel on a rod. Cast it and see if you like it or not.

Here's one; Oct. 16th is the new date.

Ive used Okuma SST casting rods. You can get one 9’ heavy at about 1-6. They work well, and do ok with 1/2 oz lures too.  I have them with the carbon grips. The SST is very durable and the action is good.

I either use it with the komodo or an Abu 6500.
Get one, you wont regret the purchase.
