· #1 Posted September 12, 2022 (edited) Am I dreaming to think I can use a Shimano SpeedMaster II12 and a Lamiglass bluewater rods to jig for Bluefin tuna east of Chatham. Or do I step up to a Talica and new rod. Edited September 12, 2022 by dlaurend 0 Go to top
· #2 Posted September 12, 2022 Yes probably dreaming but in other places with less giants it's a fine setup. 0 Go to top
· #3 Posted September 13, 2022 The Talica 12 and Speedmaster 12 have very similar specs as far as drag, retrieve and line capacity. A couple more ball bearings and finish doesn’t warrant the price difference in my opinion. I jig for school and “over” sized tuna with the Speedmaster 12 and it does just fine. The Speedmaster is a beast. I don’t know the Lami blue water rods but if you want to upgrade get a OBX 300 made by Saltywater Tackle. It’s the best. if you want to upgrade from the Speedmaster I’d get an Ocea 4000 not the Talica. And yes none of this gear really for giants. 0 Go to top
· #4 Posted September 13, 2022 5'2" Black Hole Cape Cod 450g jigging rods are proven for giant jigging. JM PE or 10 reels are simply the best tuna jigging reels but it is hard to get here. 1 Go to top
