So I called a dealer on a 2006, Toyota Tacoma, 97,000 miles, 4x4 access cab.

He wants 14K!!!

He went on to tell me how used car prices are still increasing and that he might cut a deal if I were to finance most of it.

Nutz.....

I've got an '09 with 315K, runs sweet.  No rust, clean interior (seat covers, weather-guard mats). Wonder what it's worth?

It’s nuts for a yota. I’m looking at a 1 owner 1996 6 cylinder f150 with 62k miles, really clean in the pics.

That 17 year old frame is probably about to disintegrate from rust too.

Take a trip to the SW like Arizona. Rust free.

He's probably making a better margin on the loan rebate from the bank than on the car itself.

Buy rate vs. retail rate.

Anywho, still looking and no hurry to buy anything.

I told him I would probably be at $7.5K cash

No way he'll accept your offer. Check the local ads for private car sales in the mean time.

You can search all day and night. A recent model Tacoma, maybe access cab, maybe 2012, maybe 4 cyl, 2wd nice, steel wheels, no nonsense nav bull****, a few power items, 120k. 13k min.

I’m searching 100 miles from 2 different zip codes in 2 states.
