Shimano Saragossa 5000?

I second the Gosa.

I have a 6000 on my 8’ inlet rod.. Basically the same size/weight as a 5000 but more line capacity. 5000 is pointless to me —  it’s not saving any weight. I’ve beat my previous gen Saragosa up and it’s still just as good as when I got it, just a little battle scarred. The new model hasn’t been out long enough to say it’s as bulletproof but it feels just as good so far.

I keep a Shimano Saragosa 6000 on a 9’ Star Stellar Surf (1-4) and a Penn Slammer III 4500 on a 8’ Penn Prevail (1-3).  The two reels could be easily swapped and still be at home on either rod.  OH

I used to feel the same way but I did a 180. For most inshore stuff choosing the the larger spooled model just means adding more backing.

IMO Saragossa is a bit big and heavy for a 8’ rod and your planned fishing.  I would go smaller and lighter.  Maybe a 4000 stradic or 3500 Penn Spinfisher or slammer.   Have a Saragossa 6000 and it matches good for me on 10’ and 10’6” rods.

Shimano Spheros 4000. The 5000/6000 series are a tad heavy and don't balance a 8' rod very well.
