Most of my fishing on the south shore of Long Island is with my vsx150, 20lb. PP. 40lb fluro leader, on my 10' Nex1 cut 6 inches from the tip. When the wind is blowing and the surf is big I like the 10' evolution with the vsx200. Ive played around with many different rods and I am always grabbing my nex1. I also have a 9 4 lami 1321m for the jetty once in a while I have fun with that. Just me though.

I”ve been fishing a Dark Matter 9’2” Skinner with a VR150 30# braid (bottom setup)

Middle setup is a 10 ft Dark Matter with a Visser #8 that I just added because I liked the 9’2” skinner

Upper setup is an 11”6” Ft Edge with a VS 200

Wouldn't mind that bottom set-up. Nice kits.

Have a pleasant evening.

Thank you

the Dark Matter stuff does not seem to get a lot of love but I am really impressed with the Skinner rod. I like throwing spooks and such and at 9’2” it makes it really fun

I like the look of the 10 ft I just picked up we will see how it fishes

An impressive lineup and you seem to know what you need, l stick around in the range of 8.5 to 10.5 and reels VS100 VS150 & VR150 my rods l build from scratch, and to my specifications l'm getting too old for anything bigger.

Your outfits :th::th:

Thank you sir

I have an old VS 100 as well on an old 9 foot honey blank now I bring it as a back up for the 9’2” rod

I am a big lamiglas guy from long ago wanted to try some new stuff

for land base the 9’2” gets a lot done and you can work lures well

the 10 footer will take me to over 4 ounces and seems faster so might help with throwing larger stuff and the 11’6” is for those days when ya really gotta try and reach out. The Edge rod says 1 to 3 ounces but it punches way above its weight class

Whole rig is 31.3 ounces

Funny thing the Visser #8 packed with Jerry Brown 50# weights the same 20.4 ounces

my lighter setup is Okuma Rockaway 9ft MH and Tsunami Saltx 4000. It I my go to combo for the south shore of Long Island. For fishing on jetties and Montauk I use Okuma Cedros 10 ft MH rod and Saltx 6000. I can lift any fish without fear of breaking the rod. Having a powerful rod will save you from unpleasant situation when you have to step on slimy rocks in oder to land a fish.

9’ Century Stealth with VS150. Light, balanced, casts 1.25 - 2oz a mile and tough enough for the big ones, which I rarely get. Can’t  say enough great things about this setup.
