Hey! Me too. I was hoping something more exciting than medical buildings but hey it could be worse

Haha! Could've been yet another coffee place :point:

Lol. Went out wee hours into daybreak of Saturday. Swarms of white buckets around all night, could see their torches in groups at minor points all along the shore.

Action was ok, dawn bite lasted a few minutes when a pod of small baitfish passed by busting surface, only got schoolie off that though with a silvery albie snax on a weighted swimbait hook. Always fun when it gets bit right as you are about to pull it from the water and you accidentally land a fish.

Between the heat, three weddings, and the full moon it’s been a struggle to get out at all.

I can report that a friend was off pt Judy in the boat and caught a bunch of chub mackerel if that means anything.

Hit a SoCo outflow on the drop.

We didn't just find a skunk, we found a DEAD skunk.

Really.

Posted (edited)

Newport, Friday, July 15, 8 hour trip.

Clear visibility, moon tide near 10.00am, water clear of weeds, ground swells.

Maybe 30 stripers below the slot range, nothing big today on a fly but great fighters.

We had maybe 6 doubles, two bluefish, several tautog all caught on flies.

Plenty of small fish...Fished hard Sat from ~10:30pm-3AM. Bait was extremely small but vast; bass from the 12-24" range busting all night. Made fishing very frustrating ended up with a fish around the 5-6lb range when I decided to launch a SS translucent needle out into the outskirts of a shadow line being produced by artificial light. Tried a top-water session earlier in the day as well from a boulder field in SoCo; with no signs of life water was filthy and weedy at that time so I gave it an hour before packing it up to prepare for the just as frustrating PM outing.

Cheers,

Chris C.

I went on a boat ride last week (super moon, super current) and fishing was phenomenal. Ton of blues and big stripers mixed in. I had one at 45” on a rubber eel. Birds and sand eel were all over and no boats in sight.. The following two outings  it was back to normal, Dead Sea.

Can you give us some idea where in a boat?

You cover lots of area.... That would help?
