I've been inland for a couple of weeks, but that won't last much longer.   I am curious if folks are finding mackerel?  They were pretty scarce earlier in the month.

we'll be around this weekend... I'll let you know what I find.  two weeks ago, I found a two full sabiki's full on one pass at the base of our river, then lost the school, and haven't found them since.  The 3 we kept got 3 chunky stripers off the rocks within 3 mins of being in the water... I couldn't get more than 1 rod baited at a time, without the other going off.

We did manage lots of pollack the next day, got a couple stripers on pollack as bait, but not nearly as good.

Could be a pogey chunk weekend

Pretty slow for me this morning compared to the last few days. Just one sub 20” fish this morning

Same, landed one somewhere around slot size last night and had another fish on a mag darter that came unpinned but that was it. The one that came unpinned felt like a blue but never saw it. Fingers crossed that we’ll get to see some blues this summer. I’ve heard they’re around already.

Never heard that one - unpinned.   When I have one on and lose it, I like to say that it let go.  The "he let go" strategy places all of the fault on the fish as opposed to the angler.   This is high level stuff.

I heard people were getting their bait chopped in half around Wells area.
