Plum Gut

Hey guys-

my recollection is the tide goes toward the south fork on the ebb and into li sound on the flood for plum gut. Is that right?

what are the nasty wind (how fast, which direction) / tide combos that make it dangerous on a 24 foot whaler. Thanks!

The gut is always somewhat rough, but a 24ft Whaler should have no issues.  If there is a Nor'easter going it's obviously not a place to be fishing anywhere.

Yes the ebb flows out the gut and reverses on flow in.

Wind against tide can cause uncomfortable, and at times dangerous, conditions.  East or Northeast wind on the drop might be the worst.

It all depends on how hard the wind is blowing.  I've run it more than once in a 20-foot center console and had no problems.  People have run it in much larger boats and run into trouble.  Just stay alert for changes, and don't push your luck.  If things start feeling hostile, don't stay,
