Learned a new method for fishing whole bunker last week. New to me anyway. Push a needle with a split eye and a small rubber band thru the bunkers nose. Circle hook goes thru each end, then a few twists, then hook tip back under the band. They swim free, and don't come off until a striper grabs em. Toughest part is catching the live bunker!

If the bass are around the school, snag and drop cutouts the middle man.

I've seen people use that rubber band technique with great effect.

I used to throw the circle right behind the dorsal fin, bait would swim great.

Bass like the head shot on the bait.

Many ways to skin a cat....have fun with it.

Snag and drop is now illegal in CT. Bait needs to be on a circle hook. You can snag, but then need to fish on the circle hook.

I don't get with the rubber band technique.

Why not just run the hook thru the eye sockets?

They wouldn't swim for long with a hook thru the brain!

Ok. But it doesn't go thru the brain at all.    Put the hook thru the sockets in front of the eyeball.

I've kept fish alive for hours on a stringer like that.

Eta.  Generic photo of fish brain location.

this is for ike jime.  But it shows the whereabouts of the brain vs eye socket.  article-iki-jime-photo-1.jpg.3201ce626c88a7ac23db5e33d49ff0d1.jpg
