Great job Putin.

More Poland...

On Tuesday, the US State Department approved a sale of 116 M1A1 Abrams tanks to Poland in a deal worth USD 3.75 bn.

They will later be upgraded to the most modern variant, M1A2 SEPv3

Poland has previously signed a contract for 250 M1A2 SEPv3

366 SEPv3s coming

Poland is the big economic success story of the former Eastern Block, but even so, I wonder if they really have the money to pay for all the stuff they're ordering. They're supposed to get the latest Patriot radar before the US Army does, they're under contract with Raytheon to develop a replacement for the Patriot PAC-2 missile based on an Israeli missile, the Stunner.

This does illustrate something I've said repeatedly. Ukraine's fight is buying NATO time it badly needs to become meaningful.

There is no state in the world with a longer or more robust history of corruption than Russia.  It’s core to the culture.  And they lie as easily as breathing.

You seem a bit agitated. Have you been drinking tonight or did you finally realize Putin's plan for the de-militarization of Nazi Ukraine is working? The early you wake up, the easy your hangover will be.

Behind every strongman, every despot, there’s wee, little men who keep him in power, hoping he’ll shine a little light their way.  People with no hope of value except as a tool of oppression.

You may be a tool.

This is from an Interview Vlad gave.

Sounds like he is planning on staying long term.

Via ZeroHedge

On Wednesday Russian President Vladimir Putin gave a wide-ranging public war update during a televised session of his Human Rights Council, which at least one independent regional outlet said was tightly controlled in terms of the kind of questions Kremlin officials could ask.

Among the more important topics he addressed related to the now 10-month long “special military operation” in Ukraine was future plans for broader mobilization and the prospect of deployment of nuclear assets. On the latter point, Putin lashed out at the United States and NATO, saying “Russia does not have tactical nuclear weapons in other countries, unlike the US.”

This was in reference to the fact that some NATO members in Europe, including extending as far east as Turkey, do act as host countries to many of the US’ tactical nukes under the NATO defense umbrella. “Our nuclear forces are in a more advanced state than any other country in the world,” he boasted at one point.

“We don’t want to wave it around”: Putin

Importantly, given the ratcheting US-NATO arms pipeline to Ukraine’s forces, which has lately involved transfer of increasingly sophisticated and longer range missiles, Putin warned that the “risk of nuclear war in the world is rising.”

He further took the opportunity to restate Russia’s ‘defensive’ nuclear doctrine, stressing that nuclear weapons would be considered as a response to an attack on Russian territory, while also stating that he stands ready to defend Russian territory “using all available means”.

According to a translation of Putin’s remarks in Sky News:

“We didn’t speak about usage of nuclear weapons.” Then, he said: “Russia has not gone mad.”

“We have the most advanced weapons, but we do not want to wave it around.”

But in taking a swipe at Washington’s nuclear deployments in Europe, he seemed to suggest that it’s precisely the US side doing the nuclear saber-rattling.

“Yes, we will do this by various ways and means. First of all, of course, we will focus on peaceful means, but if nothing else remains, we will defend ourselves with all the means at our disposal,” Putin said.

Western mainstream media will more than likely run with the comments as a fresh “threat” that Russia stands ready to conduct a nuclear attack if cornered in Ukraine, and yet just like the previous time he made similar statements, the Russian leader was in fact articulating the defensive nature of the country’s official nuclear policy against ‘existential’ threats to Russian territory.

Among the more important new commentary from Putin, however, was the following:

In rare comments on the status of the war, Mr Putin admitted it would likely be a “long process” – suggesting Russia has no plans to abandon the conflict any time soon.

Last month into this month has already seen some ambiguous signals from Washington that the Biden administration could be ready to at least contemplate pushing Kiev to the negotiating table. Moscow too has said it remains “open” to talks – however, Putin’s projection of a “long” conflict strongly suggests the warring sides are nowhere close to establishing a process for talks.

Elsewhere in the Human Rights Council meeting with top officials, Putin sought to quash persistent rumors of a second military mobilization across society next year. He expressed there was no need, after the prior 300,000 reservists which were called up for Ukraine operations.

He emphasized determination to see the operation through to achieve previously stated goals: “Russia could be the only guarantor of Ukraine’s territorial integrity. But it’s up to the new leaders of Ukraine,” Putin said.

Anyone that buys Putin’s BS is a flat-out moron.   You’d almost have to be willingly stupid.  “Russia the only guarantor of Ukraine’s territorial integrity.”

Russians love them some despots.  And they’re more than happy to inflict them on the world.  Really, it’s time their enemies brought the fight to the Russian people.

If only someone other than  Biden had proposed the bill, it would have so much more acceptable.

In much the same way, the terrible thing about support for Ukraine is that Biden is leading it. That's all that's needed for the compulsives to hate it. Now, if former President Trump were to be unequivocal in his support for Ukraine, that would make it ever SO much better.

President Trump, of course, has said virtually nothing about the war, beyond an initial expression of admiration for Putin's genius in staging the invasion. We don't know if he has any reservations about Putin (a very strong leader). We don't know if has any opinion beyond a lingering resentment that Zelensky didn't help him out with an investigation of Biden. Trump cherishes his resentments, so it's a fair guess that he hasn't forgotten, but the best bet is that Ukraine doesn't exist for him. Nothing matters except undoing the last election, and the Constitution as necessary.

I've made the observation repeatedly that supporting Ukraine is preventing Putin from moving on to those NATO countries in the Baltics that he thinks should be Russian. He can't do so because the Russian Army is tied in knots in Ukraine. An invasion of NATO space would mean war between the US and Russia directly, with all kinds of plausible bad consequences. None of the Biden-haters here have ever addressed that concern, so here's a renewed invitation. Would you rather see the US and Russia exchange fire directly? Or would you rather spend money to arm Ukraine? Send money, but no US blood? And if you see no risk that Russia, having achieved victory in Ukraine, would move on to new conquests, why do you think so?

Putin is going to take over Europe the minute he steamrolls Ukraine.

Sure thing Brian. Keep living in fear of a third world shithole dictator and send Ukraine billions of borrowed taxpayer dollars we don’t have, which allows Europe to sit on their hands and laugh at stupid Americans.

As for Trump- it would not have happened if he were still there. Like it didn’t happen from 2017-2021.

Biden's been at his best on this. His warnings of immanent invasion were spot on. He took a risk, a substantial risk, in talking as much as he did about US intelligence, discredited in European eyes by Iraqi WOMD. It paid off.

What was his first clue?  Putin stockpiling tanks and personnel on the Ukraine border for months?  Wow. Joe figured out what was about to happen and still did nothing for months to prevent it.

He is a foreign policy expert after all.

That's quite a stretch.

It's more likely he would have stood back and boasted "I told you so"  and walked away.

Why didn’t Putin invade Ukraine between 2017-2021?  Especially while the fake MSM had the US rubes convinced Trump was put in place by Putin, and Trump was Putin’s puppet?

Putin is not a young man. Why wait four years?

It's entirely possible Putin would have have an easier war with Trump as President than he is now with Biden as President.

So then why didn’t he invade between 2017-2021?  Putin was already taking back territory during the Obama years. And, Obama was not his puppet, like Trump was.
