It's a hit or miss--you need to be in the right spot. Me too, It's gotta be the right tide for sure. I've had better luck at lower water personally. That's what they wanted. Once the town balance sheet coming in red, they'll start selling all sort of permits, one for every town.
Bluefishmaster
You will need a night fishing permit to park and fish during the night. There's a permit for this town and that town. Making the world safe for bait, one bluefish at a time!

SubRosa87
Y’all are fishing there at the wrong time. I’ve seen huge bait balls of adult bunker and seven foot surf there.

In the fall months I've seen large schools of bunker getting harassed by big blues right up on the beach. I've accidently snagged big bunker there and pulled in nothing but surgically cut, gasping head. I'll agree that I've done well there when there's big surf, the most I've seen is around 4ft. But my favorite days there are still early morning slack tides, gliding a small spook through the river mouth.
