I have a lot of luck with fluke. Only specific areas on the beach produce. It's a hit or miss--you need to be in the right spot.

Me too, It's gotta be the right tide for sure. I've had better luck at lower water personally.

smithtown

moved from Crookhaven to Smithtown last summer and man have the two towns become butt hurt after COVID...

i fish behind the psychward or docks and do pretty well..

frequently will have those lady rent a cops start giving me chit for fishing at like 1-3am.... mam i live walking distance from here. you see me catching and releasing why dont you bother the kids climbing building 93....

Permits dont do chit, i was at a fiesta last summer and realized that wife or kids dropping you off to fish resident spots, bridges, or nights is the new move.

That's what they wanted.  Once the town balance sheet coming in red, they'll start selling all sort of permits, one for every town.

Y’all are fishing there at the wrong time.
I’ve seen huge bait balls of adult bunker and seven foot surf there.

7' surf...... sure, during Sandy maybe.......

In the fall months I've seen large schools of bunker getting harassed by big blues right up on the beach. I've accidently snagged big bunker there and pulled in nothing but surgically cut, gasping head.

I'll agree that I've done well there when there's big surf, the most I've seen is around 4ft. But my favorite days there are still early morning slack tides, gliding a small spook through the river mouth.
