Dauphin Island, AL Trip

Just got back from a week long vacation in Dauphin Island, AL.  It’s not a very well known island but it’s an amazing vacation spot.  I feel like a lot of members on this forum would love it mainly because of the fishing.  This was my fifth trip to the island and I’ve got the fishing pretty much figured out.  We caught sharks, bluefish, speckled trout, lady fish, whiting, sting rays, saltwater catfish, and a remora.  Failed to get on the drum, but there is always next time.  If you’ve never heard of it, it’s worth a look.

I stayed near Fort Morgan for a week in the fall , very close to there . I was amazed at the amount of life in those waters . It will definitely be a place I must go at least once a year . I might even say it is better than Florida , and I love Florida .
The spinner sharks were nuts.

Love Dauphin island!! Was there March 2021. Awesome vacation spot!! About a 7 1/2 hour trip. Unfortunately it was about a month after major shoulder surgery. I tried to fish a little bit but didn’t catch much. Definitely a place we will return to. Great pics. Did you walk out to the very end? That looked wicked fishy! Had a great time even without fishing.

We would just drive down to the end of the west end at like 6am and tear up the trout and blues.  Would get the conventional surf rods out and just hang on the beach all day in front of the house.

Yeah man.   The fishing is legit on those islands, especially in October.   It’s not as good as Buxton, NC but a close second.
